The SafetyZone Introduction: Obedience, Awareness, Respect

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced a new video series aimed at increasing the safety of its more than 65,000 missionaries around the world.
The new 12-part series is called “The SafetyZone.” Each episode covers a missionary safety topic in an entertaining way while delivering important, life-changing principles. The videos focus on helping missionaries gain life experience through actual examples and storytelling. Each video builds on the basic principles of situational awareness, obedience to laws and mission rules and respect for risks and for people in the areas where they serve.

I have served 2 Senior Missions, and worked with 500 young missionaries, this is a "spot on" focus and valued message. Having parents watch it with their missionary and discussing it to help the message and risk soak in is very important. Young missionaries are a wonderful addition to the church and spreading the message of the Restoration, BUT they are young and make some uninformed mistakes at times. This is a great teaching tool and should help !

Love it! I know a few people who are NOT missionaries who could use this kind of lesson... you don't have to be young and away from home to need obedience, situational awareness and respect!

With the age drop, missionaries feel even more like kids. Many of them have never been more than a night or two away from home. Makes sense that increased attention to safety is needed now. I'm not a big fan of blind obedience and rule orientation but I can see how that's pretty essential when you're dealing with a group of kids away from home.

I loved the message if the safety zone. I believe these videos should be watched by everyone. We could all apply this to our daily lives. Very applicable to each of our Heavenly Father's children.

I find this episode very interesting and helpful not just for missionaries but for everyone of us because every member is indeed a missionary. Oftentimes, our example resonates loudly and powerfully more than our preaching or sermon. Imagine the impact on missionary work throughout the world if only every full-time missionary and each member of the church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-Day Saints are aware of these 3 basic principles and yet so vital for the safety and success and well-being of each missionary and member missionary in the entire church. I'm so grateful that the church has started this online safety program that can truly bless and protect young missionaries as they go forth to serve the Lord throughout the world. I appreciate the part about respect. On my mission, Elders would sometimes do really stupid, inconsiderate or immature things in public. I was embarrassed for them and I am glad this concept was addressed.

These young men and women dedicate two years of their lives at great sacrifice to themselves and their families. They and their families go into it believing the church values these young lives. They have their whole future ahead of them and that future should be preserved. They are tithe paying, temple attending, active members who should be valued as much as the converts they may bring. The responsibility for their safety and well being does not lie on their shoulders alone. They have no control of what areas they are sent to, what companions they are given or what help and advice their leaders give them.

Great video, it is great to see the church rncourage safety awareness, being aware others are watching them & honoring & obeying the law. I'm grateful they've encoureged this to be taught by the parentts of missionaries.
