Propane tank valve removal Method 3 Make a tool! Easy DIY Project!

Показать описание
Make a propane tank valve removal tool using a piece of round steel and some flat bar. A great DIY Project thats of use to anyone working and recycling steel into woodstoves, pot belly burners or firepits.
A much safer method for recycling old and discarded gas bottles instead of whaling on them with a hammer, cutting them with a grinder or drilling into them.
A valve can get stuck due to the brass valve being in contact with the steel body and corossion building up in between them. You will need to make sure the propane tank is tight against a fixed post. The one in the video goes down to a depth of 3ft/900mm and is also surrounded by concrete.
Great for wood stoves and burners, rocket stoves, portable compressed air units and more, you can find them dumped at many places and in need of recycling.

Tools youre going to need are
Grinder
Pillar drill ideally
File
Pencil

Bloody brilliant! Thank you so much for this. I struggled like mad to remove one this weekend and ended up, packing it in, until I could find a solution. You have provided me with the perfect one!

Thanks for getting me started on this little project! I used 2" pipe with 1.5" wide slots 2.5" deep. I used a 24" pipe wrench with no cheater. I stuck a 1/2" drive extension 18" long thru the 3" hole in the sheet metal shroud around the valve and laid the tank on it's side. The only thing extra was I had to cut a cheater ring out of 2.5" pipe about 1/4" long to keep the wrench/socket 'teeth' from deforming. The ring fit over the valve prior to putting the wrench/socket in place. Cheers!

thanks for the simple solution... unfortunately I moved and gave up my 27 year collection of useful junk in the work shop and now I have to hunt for materials... I miss my workshop the most...

Best one I've seen yet and I don't think you ever lit that cigarette.

Nice idea - Better to just weld a socket to the end and hit it up with your rattle gun tho. You dont have to strap the bottle down either if you do this

Do you need to have the tank "vacuumed" before having it filled for the first time after replacing the valve?

Good ideas for easily fabricating a simple tool! With respect. Please demonstrate good work habits and use eye and ear protection. A metal file is not to be used in a scrubbing motion, as it damages both the file and the work. A file is capable of precision work and is a "push only" tool much like a carpenters plane.

I'm late to the game but do you have any dimensions of the material you used? Thank you from Vancouver, B.C. Canada.

Buenas se ve fácil pero cuando se termina el gas en el cilindro queda restos de precio de gas y aire y en el vídeo no muestra cómo se retira esa precio. Puede ser que al intentar sacar la válvula salga disparada con la presion
