Oh NO! I love violet blonde, it's one of the best violet-orris fragrances I've EVER smelled with a soft, suede-like dry down that is to die for!! I'm so sad that it has been discontinued.

Ooh I love this video! I'm someone who blind buys still...it's actually how I've found not only my signature scent but also some of my all time favorite scents. Of course, I've also bought some very disappointing ones! Doesn't stop me though. 😅

I was looking for a honey fragrance, and several people suggested Pure Honey. I agree the bottle is adorable if difficult to hold and spray, but the fragrance was okay. I thought it smelt more like a field of wildflowers than it did honey. Afterward, I purchased Elie Saab Le Parfum Intense, and it turned out to be exactly what I was looking for. I have no experience of any of the others you mentioned.

Wow, you were on the most articulate roll on with this one! What a great idea for a short video. I totally agree with you about everything you said in this, ultra relatable. I too love challenging, avant-garde fragrances but felt the exact same way you did about Violet Blonde. Same goes for what you said about honey. The note keeps catching my eye and I turn into Bart Simpson touching things that burn or buzz repeatedly, going 'ow...ow...ow...ow'. It's time for me to face up to the fact that honey is not a reliable friend and to stand up and ignore it when testing fragrances. It's never what I hope it will be.

Fabulous video! It's funny how you touched on how fragrances smell different depending on the person. I bought "Fame" on a whim, it was at the drugstore and it was $20. But to my surprise, it smells great on me. I really get like a sexy, smokey vibe from it, which was not what I was expecting. My friend has it too, but it smells like a generic fruity fragrance on him. Just goes to show how body chemistry can completely change a fragrance.

Ive had 1 regrettable purchase recently DIOR OUD ISPAHAN while it doesnt smell too bad (still not great) on the linens it smells urinous on my skin I cant escape the smell I had to shower to get it off I am in total agreement with you on GAGA'S GARBAGE it was like shoving grape candy up your nose great hype but awful smell so keep up the good work you are always entertaining JIM from MIAMI BEACH

I am glad to hear that there is someone else who can get caught into the idea of a fragrance and make a mistake. I made this mistake with a special edition of Orris and Sandalwood which I was so sure I'd like. Lovely to hear someone mention Naf naf - brings back memories!

I just put in an order for $30 worth of samples and thought "this might be a waste". It is much better to "waste" $30 on samples than $300 on blind buying a fragrance (or two) based solely on hype. Thanks for the reminder that it is always better to try it before buying if you can.

Snowy Owl by Zoologist. Not sure what happened between my smelling it in store and it arriving by post but it was like my nose had enjoyed making a fool of me. On eBay a few months later with only a few sprays

I've had several fragrances that I bought after sampling them but quickly turned me off: My Burberry, Balmain Extatic, Mon Guerlain, Bvlgari Goldea the Roman night. Some of them I actually used for some weeks, others turned me off on the first use. I have no idea how it was possible because I really liked each one when I sampled in store.

I liked Gaga Fame when I was younger when I liked sweet scents and terrible childish taste in perfumes. I hate it these days but it's the only celeb perfume I've liked. I loved how the perfume was like black and poison like. I was an edge lord so lol. It's insane how your taste can change in fragrances over time.

What a fun review, thanks for your stories about these ones. I've only sampled the Lady Gaga, and totally agree, boring fruity chemically mush, and the liquid looks like the juice from a can of black olives, yuck! But I love the Gaga herself. Your videos are always great, thanks again. <3

Hey, Scott here! The majority of my collection were blind buys. I tend to like the notion of trusting a house or a nose or a note and committing myself. You can't go wrong with Annick Goutal, at least the original formulations. Have you ever experienced C'e La Vie (Christian Lacroix) or Les Fleurs (Orlane)? My picks for mom and became her signatures. Really love watching you, please do buy Elixir and do a review.
