I recapped a Game Gear to learn how to solder with help, it took me about 2 weeks from start to end.

I feel like DKOldies are the No Mans Sky of video game resellers. They faced major controversy, they were being dogged on by everyone for months; but they kept at it and kept improving and now we get detailed videos about their internal processes and those "I bought from DKOldies, have they improved since last time?" vids you see on YouTube are all pretty much in favor of DKOldies instead of being against them. Gotta love it.

found mine from my childhood a few days ago actually and surprisingly its never been re-capped and after cleaning it works great and the inside looks great too, so am I in the 1% DKOldies?

I play mine on my tv with Retron 5 with my Retron 5 adapter that plugs into the Genesis port 😊

A guitar pedal builder would be great at this, I've repaired a few pedals in the last few years. I'd enjoy trying to get one of these going. I remember I got a game gear used years after my friends had it and wanted one so bad. My awesome mom surprised me one day before vacation with one! I wonder where it is now.

Such a shame how badly these handhelds were made as they were far superior to the gameboy during their time. Mine started to have sound problems and the right and left controls started failing as well and that was 1-2 years after it was bought brand new from the store. Im sure one day ill come across it again and maybe will pay to have it fixed up.
