Question for you.

What is the rule, or what might you suggest about placement of each layer, for example; Do you use Panning or Reverb to place those individual tracks in a specific area, or do you use the 0% panning rule as in drums or bass?

Great Tutorial.Im having a problem with mono compatibility and im not sure if you could help me with that or just give me a pointer on it.My synths sound great in stereo but when i sum to mono it doesn't sound great at all.Is there any advice you could give me for that.Anyway advice would be appreciated and thank you.

At around 8:07, when you said "I'm no expert", what I found to be generally true, is that there's no clear cut synth that works with every song, I found that once can just continue tweaking parameters until something sounds right. Eventually, it'll all fit together. I never like making presets and "standard" synths, I personally like to make everything from scratch when making a new song.
