Squier Classic Vibe 60s Jazz Overview

I recently picked up one of the new editions of the Squier Classic Vibe 60s Jazz Bass in Daphne Blue, and I give a quick run-thru of it, and perform a few completely improvised pieces. I also run it through a Sadowsky outboard preamp... a staple in my arsenal in some form or another since 1997! This is a fantastic bass, and one that was almost perfect right out of the box.

*7/29/19 Update: I switched strings over the weekend to a new set of Sadowsky light gauge Nickel rounds and it has beefed up the sound of this bass even more. More resonance, tighter tone and feel all around. I initially had a set of NOS GHS Progressives in a light gauge on the bass, and they just didn't jive, especially with tapered/exposed-core E-string. This set of Sadowsky strings has made things even better!

Thanks for the video. I have several CV Teles and one CV Strat. When I saw these announced in Daphne Blue, they caught my interest immediately. Your demo sealed it. Just ordered one

Awesome bass! I was thinkin' about getting one myself. I own two Squier Jazz basses and for the price to quality ratio, it's just better than the affordable Fender Jazz basses. They play amazingly well and have an awesome sound. Good choice man! By the way, you kinda remind me of Pino Palladino, hahah. Great vid!!

My wife bought me one in sunburst (it's a jaco thing) and it hasn't arrived in the mail yet. After seeing all these reviews I'm psyched to play it

Gorgeous bass!!! Nice demo. I have the Squier VM 70s Jazz Bass, natural with black blocks and binding and the thick gloss/lacquer and it plays great for the price. I also just picked up the new classic vibe bass vi, black with tortoiseshell guard, if you are thinking about getting any of these just do it immediately!!!

I put the stock pick ups back and it sounds 👌, i think those Fender Highway One pickups are just voiced very high maybe with another amp they would sound better but I'm totally happy with the stock pick ups 👍

I have an older 1 and I took out the stock pickups and put some American Highway One pickups, I run it through a Hartke lh500 paired with a sansamp RBI preamp but it is ear piercingly bright so I think I'm going to put the stock back in because they're rated at a 9 in the bridge and 8th in the neck and I think those Highway 1 are just super hot or are just super bright one of the two

Actually my first time hearing the sadowsky preamp. I never bothered watching a review because of needing something with more features, but I gotta say it sounds killer.

I was set on buying one of these and after playing it I ended up not getting it. I'm used to a Mexican Jazz Bass from 2006 that's got a nice deep tone to it. Not sure if it's just the wood differences (Squier: Poplar | Fender: Alder). I practice a lot with the bass unplugged and hold it up against my body and felt like the Squier was less resonant. How do you feel it compares in feel to a Mexican Jazz Bass in regards to resonance and overall sound when not plugged in?

Is this one of these new Indonesian-made Classic Vibes? It sounds pretty great. The craftsmanship looks amazing.
