This exercise is a finger twister. I hope you all recognize octaves and use the up and down method to read notes. If not, make sure you look at my unconventional sight-reading lessons.

Czerny’s Op. 821: 160 Eight-Measure exercises are concise etudes, each only 8 measures long, make them perfect for focused technical practice without being overwhelming. They target specific aspects of piano technique, such as finger independence, scales, arpeggios, articulation, and dynamic control.

Czerny designed them as progressive studies, meaning they gradually increase in difficulty, and they’re particularly useful for beginner to intermediate students seeking to build a solid technical foundation. Despite their brevity, they also emphasize musicality, which is a hallmark of Czerny’s pedagogical works.
