The reason why i dont want my first draft to be bad is because its going to take 2x the work to edit it into something better. Also, working with a bad draft can make you feel like youre doing all this work for a story you've come to hate. Cos its so bad. I write for me first you know. 😅

I realise theres a danger in not finishing. But that's only a problem when you have a publishing deadline. Sucks all the joy out of writing.

Its why writing is my hobby first. Not my daily bread. I write when the words and ideas come. Sometimes a few days on end. Then i need a mental break and do things like research for another story. It refreshes the mind and my enthusiasm. I usually get great progress out of these moments.
Theres highs and lows and I balance them with the type of writing i do. Wether it is making notes in my outline, fleshing out characters or deciding what info i want in what scene.
I also switch it up with the type of media i watch or read.
As long as you can allow yourself to let the story come, instead of scheduled writing you'll have more fun doing it and be happier with the outcome.
If nothing comes, I don't write.
When I still force it, I end up deleting almost all of the work i put in cos that's not what i wanted. This way its not a job, but a fun activity where you realise you're pretty much a God😊😂
