My Top 15 entries from Azerbaijan in Eurovision (2008-2022)

Here's my Top 15 of the Azerbaijani entries in Eurovision so far.
Azerbaijan has a history of lots of fairly middle-of-the-road entries that don't amaze me too much, though unlike Australia, there are at least two fantastic songs Azerbaijan has sent that really stand out.

When the Music Dies is also my favourite entry from Azerbaijan. Honestly, I would have preferred this winning over Running Scared.

My top 10 of Azerbaijan 🇦🇿 since 2008:
10: 2021: such a great song and a great performance to boot. 7.5/10.
9: 2017: such an important message and great staging. 8/10.
8: 2012: such a great song and a terrific performance. 8.5/10.
7: 2019: such a great song and an excellent performance. 9/10.
6: 2022: such a masterpiece. Great vocals too. 9/10.
5: 2020: such an iconic and catchy song. 9.5/10.
4: 2009: such an ethnic banger. 10/10.
3: 2013: masterpiece, an iconic performance to boot. 10/10.
2: 2015: such a masterpiece. Love the dancers and his vocals are chilling. 10/10.
1: 2008: 10/10 masterpiece. Such a chilling performance.
Honourable mentions: I also like 2011 (6.5/10). 2010 (5.5/10) and 2018 (5/10) are decent. But 2014 (3/10) and 2016 (3.5/10) are bad and really uninteresting to me.
Overall I really like what Azerbaijan send to Eurovision every year. They are a very interesting country and I love their songs most of the time. They are a really strong country to me.

Azerbaijan is one of the best countries in the world & in the Eurovision... Culture, cities, language, nature, foods etc.

While Azerbaijan gets kudos for taking the contest seriously, I'm a bit turned off by the occasional insincerity of their entries. especially now when authenticity really sells an entry, it's odd that the Azeri broadcaster doesn't go for local songwriters.
I think When the Music Dies is a beautiful entry, though my favorite is Skeletons from 2017. It's so mysterious and dark, and I can't help myself from replaying it often.

Similarly to Australia, Azerbaijan doesn't really tend to surprise me much, but my top 6 here feels really strong to me. And yeah, another common thing with Australia is that they still haven't beaten the insane quality their debut had, I wish they did something experimental like that once again.

I only like my top 3. I know that my bottom 3 have a lot of fans but I just don't like them. Elnur deserves to come back with a better song. I love his voice.
