I was born on the edge of the technology boom of the 21st century.
I enjoy the new luxury but wouldn't of missed it if I didn't know about it. I would continue to do as I was taught just like my parents did as they were taught.
You don't have to move anywhere to live the simple life you just create it yourself in your own life. If others want to join you, so be it. If not keep doing what makes you happy.
