Never do it on both sides simultaneously, and abstain from doing so if you have carotid sinus hypersensitivity.

Hello Dr Kristeen Barker🙂,
I am a MIT freshmen . Yesterday, I slept on my stomach with my head on a hard neck roll pillow, which compressed one side of my neck. When I woke up, I had a severe headache at the back of my head and neck pain. I am concerned that this might have affected my brain by blocking the blood flow through the carotid artery.

I mentioned it to my parents but they downplayed it.

I am feeling quite awkward about this question.

I am a bit overthinker and this issue is causing a lot of distraction from my studies. Can you please help me out what really happened ?

Hi Kristeen, could you tell me what the vein or artery on the right side of the forehead is called? It throbs strongly when I have a headache, and I also experience pain on the right side of my neck at the same time. Are they related? And how can I relieve this type of headache?
