Seriously this girl should have her own outdoor Tv programme. Such a talent. Well done Abbie.

Very well done Abbie, now you are going to have to follow on with other plants through the seasons. it pays to look around you on your walks, today I watched a pair of Red Kites finish of the remains of a rabbit (on the footpath), The surprise of the day as it was a bit cool was a single Orange Tip Butterfly.

Thanks for this. I was in the UK in April May and June 2018. I know May and June were unusually warm (a bit of a 'bus man's holiday' for me. I live in Southern California.) but April I was told was 'normal'. Out the window on the train to Beaminster it looked like a northern Everglades, half of everything seemed underwater, Dorset was muddy--there was one hill I wasn't sure if I'd be able to get to top. Daffodils were everywhere and the trees were mostly bare branches with buds. Late April early May the leaves on the trees were still small so the branches and structure stood out. This made me think of David Hockney's Yorkshire paintings. I'm sure this is when he did some of his paintings. (A panoramic photograph of trees in his studio in the movie Tim's Vermeer shows exactly this.) By mid-May the trees were all green and clumps of leaves--hiding the structure. (Also the trees in the UK all look well tended. I know none of it is 'untouched' but the crowns of trees look perfectly pruned. They uneven and more scraggly in the States. It's not just one or two species, and the white oaks in the States look exactly like the British ones.)

I had a moment in Brittany in May, driving with my son. I spotted a small clump of red poppies, slammed on the brakes to take a photo. At first he didn't get it. Northern France and poppies? World War One.

(I'm just waking up and rambling and anyway no one ever reads the comments.) What I'm trying to say is that the UK, probably Ireland too seem to have flowers that are closely tied to specific months of the year. I've never noticed this as much anywhere else. Even planted gardens seem to have this timeline. When we watch UK/Irish TV, I'll often blurt out, "it's May, look at the trees just starting to leaf.' In the States in the southeast Dogwood blooms early--I forget at the moment which month, and in California May is when the Jacaranda trees bloom, fall colors of course, but the US is so big it can happen weeks apart. The UK I think you could make a calendar based on just the flowers. (btw my girlfriend and I planted my flower and herb garden in December And when the good people of Midsomer are killing each other and I see a flower I didn't remember seeing, well that must be July or August after I'd left. I should be rambling on a trail instead of on YouTube.

Double feature for me today! I just finished watching your epic trek "Choosing Joy, " which was terrific BTW. Spring is taking time to arrive here, so watching this gave me hope that it's around the corner! You are an excellent narrator and storyteller Abbie.

Hi Abbie. I’m impressed you know so much. I’ve left about half my yard unmowed this season because I have some good stands of wild flowers. I’ll have see what they are.

I’ve just planted snowflakes for the Southern Hemisphere spring, they have become my favourite. I will also try growing a cyclamen, in a garden pot. Thanks for showing us the gorgeous woodlands in the UK, where bulbs grow in abundance. 👏🏻

I enjoyed watching Abbie. Thanks for all the info. I am still in the U.K. and certainly have been enjoying all the emerging flowers. Wish me luck in finding the wildflower hay meadow in Muker in the Yorkshire Dales. However I think I will be a bit too early.
