Fiat 500 Not Starting - Solved! (sort of)

My solution to an intermittent "no start, no crank" condition on a 2012 Fiat 500 Pop with a manual transmission. Chased down all sorts of possible causes over the years with the Fiat Studio and at home before settling on a drastic (hopefully long term) solution.

Thanks Andre, it's so frustrating dealing with a Not staring problem since it's so tricky to discover what really causes it. I already changed the clutch switch and no luck, checked all the relays and fuses and nothing. Now I will try your technique to see if in fact it's a problem with the starter connection.

So from the switch, one wire straight to the starter and the other to...? How heavy of wire? If mine has trouble tomorrow after my messing around today, I'll probably go with this solution, but since it's hovering around a 0 degree windchill, I don't want to spend any more time under the hood than I need to. I have a 2012 Fiat 500 automatic. It was doing the same thing. It turned out to be a bad starter.

So, do i wire this to the silonoid and the ignition switch?

Does one wire go the the fuse box and one to the starter?

I have also encountered with tire pressure monitor unavailable and ESC lights on. but after I drove couple kms, it gone. just wondering do you also encounter with this kind of problem as well? and how did you solve it? thank you!

Mine is also 2012 500 .repaced battery, then starter worked 1month. Then all dash lights on no click no start. Replaced clutch pedal switch, battery cables terminal and ground strap still no start . Thanks at least for a new idea. Was running out.

Here in the UK, I think it would fail it’s MoT with that fitted. Also presently makes it easier to steal the car.

I have a customer with this issue and crank but no start and it’s all over the internet but no fix. I guess these shitty cars ain’t work diagnosing 😂😂
