Hi Steve. I enjoyed this narration, but the one that caught my attention was the one about the Navajo Rangers. I have a deep connection to the Navajo Rez because I was adopted into a Navajo family. I have traveled that highway many, many times over the years. Begay is also the the name of the family that I was adopted into. I've also stayed on the Rez with my family many times.
But what really got my interest is that this Ranger, you said, wrote a book about his experiences as a Ranger. I would, very much, like to read that book. If you could, please, give me the title of the book he wrote I would greatly appreciate it.
Also, as a note, I too have had strange things happen to me on and off the Rez. One so frightening that my Shema (my adoptive Dinè mother) had to find a Medicine Man to help me, with some very interesting results.I've also attended many ceremonies. Sadly, both my adopted parents passed on, but I still retain a close connection to my sisters and brothers.

I’ve driven parts of this road in AZ and CA. Much of it is still names route 666. There are some cute towns that still embrace the name. Honestly nothing strange happened. There are a few areas that are just a long stretch of single lane highway through the desert. It can be quite windy so driving conditions aren’t great. There are also a bunch of big rigs that drive this stretch of highway so you have to be careful passing. Some people drive quite crazy. Even when driving 100mph there is always someone who thinks I’m going too slow and tailgates only to pass in a dangerous area to see a big rig ahead. S o when driving there are stretched where you can drive fast or get stuck behind a slower moving vehicle. Not a big deal honestly. It’s a similar situation throughout the SW no matter what highway you’re driving on. When you get out in the desert it is pitch black. Us city folk don’t really realize how much ambient light we have until there is none. I’ve never seen anything creepy but in certain areas you are warned about deer and cattle. I’ve definitely had some close calls with deer coming out of nowhere and jumping across the road. I’m definitely more hesitant driving in deer areas than desert. Despite the flat, dark land I love driving late at night in the desert. I find it peaceful.

My wife and I rode the section between Stafford and Alpine Arizona. We had no prior knowledge of the challenges or history of this haunted highway. We saw it in a Harley Davidson magazine. It took us 8 hours to ride 120 miles

I've driven it a few times. Always got there about dusk settled in for a night drive, radio station from Cortez, CO had a spooky program I listened to ! Would be neat to see the area in daylight

Can't help but think that superstitious people's imaginations would tend to get the best of them in regards to a route 666. Just like the Bermuda triangle and the fact that airline and maritime occurences aren't actually anymore frequent there than on any other part of the ocean.
