As a native speaker of Greek, I directly found out that "magari" is a cognate of the Greek word "μακάρι" (makari) which has the same meaning (I wish) although it is - as far as I know - not really used as "maybe" (we have the words "ίσως" and "μήπως" for that purpose). It's quite intriguing that this word found its way into the Italian language. Thank you for the video, it's very informative and well done. I'm currently trying to learn some Italian and your channel is marvelous!

Ma dai! I rarely use the word, falling back on "forse". (Which is why I am listening to each and every word you speak!). "I would imagine" or "I would guess" may come close, but it is very subtle! Ancora, grazie!

From Cyprus, Cipro. Your video reminds me when I was in Sienna with my young daughter, and speaking with her hairdress, she used her greek when she did not know some words in English... She said, , , here this..periferia, too much ..taleporia. And the Italian hairdress, understood her. Was a big surprise for us. So Magari, we use it every day, , with the meaning, I wish, we wish.

Bella integrazione tra SPIEGAZIONE di un' usanza tipicamente italiana, difficile da rendere adeguatamente in altre lingue, ed ESEMPI concreti d’uso colloquiale, tratti da interviste in strada.
