For half a decade, production duo VovKING & Tapolsky has been working on their meticulously crafted music in the world of drum & bass. Standing as pivotal representatives for their respective countries, they’ve spent two years working together in the studio to present yet another double sided single for the Program imprint. And with Program’s reputation for bringing forward some of the most exciting acts to come from its underground, it’s no surprise the outfit came under its radar. As well as decorated DJing careers, playing the likes of Global Gathering, Pirate Station and Ideology, they’ve brought their crossover skills into Program’s next release. With seasoned acapellas, exclusive tunes and mash ups, their live performances have corresponded into their music, proving that they’re both expressive producers and DJs. This can be heard through their forthcoming single ‘Button’ and ‘#BurnEmDown’, once again solidifying why their continental, fresh, production has pushed them onto the Program imprint.

Your first reintroduction to VovKING & Tapolsky’s tightly-knit output on Program is through ‘Button’. It highlights the softer end of their noise spectrum, pushing forward on carefully strung note arpeggios and melodic, yet distorted vocals. Leading into a clicking, sonic drop, the artists merge their impressive levels of engineering. On the flipside, you’re presented with the crackling, scuttling record ‘#BurnEmDown’. Each trough of bass lies seductively underneath the composition whilst every stab shakes the track to its core. And between every hook, the record moves through a drumming figure of eight, before its synapse twitching rhythms fully capture you.

Both tracks epitomise VovKING & Tapolsky’s ability to capture the essence of drum & bass while pushing its boundaries. Which is why, once again, it’s time to get with the Program – as it’s a platform for artists to explore the furthest reaches of their sound.
