This John Deere drone is equipped with a weed scanner and crop sprayer, allowing weeds to be scanned from the air and then specifically controlled. The 10.6-litre tank is filled fully automatically at a field boundary station, where the automatic battery charge also takes place.

A complete set up with the DJI Agra T-60 costs about $60, 000 for a complete set up. JD, of course, has come up with a system that would cost probably $300, 000.

Nothing "Costs" as much as a Deere. It seems nice though :) (Lafayette, LA)

Main problem I see...dicamba doesn't have an aerial application label in the US

Commercial UAS ag pilot here. 30 minutes... on a battery? With full tanks? Are you using alien technology? Because I don't know of any battery-powered spray drone that can stay aloft for that long right now. Hybrid engine, maybe.

Spray drones need to be autonomous. Who wants to spend all day filling small tanks and changing batteries?

I find it very disingenuous of Deere to now claim the benefits of arial application after spending years denying any benefit over their crop flattening ground pounders. It’s all good though... they are still heavily defending your “right to replace “ any malfunctioning system at their dealers shop. That’ll be awesome for farmers as the tech gets more complicated and expensive.
