Need lower gearing. True diff lock. Rad relocates and leak proof higher flow bigger snorkels. Big biting mud tires. The HL is a great overall machine. Rzr900 front diff and upgraded reverse chain makes them alot more durable long term. Missed watching yalls videos. Cant wait to see yall have some fun on that thing.

If you are wanting to go play in the "Swamp Chocolate"
Either this ATV, or the Can Am Renegade XMR 1000R are going to be two of the best options I think you can get.

I am personally a Polaris guy. I have a 21 sportsman 850 and it is the perfect bike for me and how I like to ride. But I’d have to say that Canam’s renegade is probably the best mud bike on the market. They are certainly the most popular as anyone who watches mud videos can tell. They have the most accessories, and overall after market upgrades available so people can personally fine tune them however they choose for themselves. Their biggest downfall is that you can’t really buy one with both snorkel kit and rad relocate kit from the factory, you have to get one or the other and add the second which is kind of stupid. Both options are a must for mudding, but I find most people underplay the importance of gearing. Having good low gears not only will help get you through thicker and messier places but also be easier on the bike itself, reducing the chances of breaking things and ruining a fun day. Things like axels are obviously important too but really only if your getting into bigger lift kits which anyone who is doing them will probably already know.

Having said all that I think the highlifter is a close second. The integrated rad and snorkels are a great looking design and functional. My only gripe about it is that they still use the older body design and lights, not because they look terrible per say. Just that they look terrible when compared to the newer body style and lights on the standard sportsman models.

But that’s just one mans opinion, love your videos, I try to watch them all even the snowtrax ones despite not having a sled myself. Keep it up and I look forward to the next video!!

Definitely mud specific tires winch good foot pegs and open foot wells.Personally I’m a Cam Am guy but the HighLifter is a stellar machine

I wish Yamaha would come out with a 1000 cc grizzly and have more type of models like a mud based one and a max framed grizzly that would be great to see. But I guess I am just wishful thinking.

Not sure what those notes are needed for.
This is the same Highlifter that they release every year.
No significant improvements on top the exisiting platform.
Kinda sad they aren't going with the newer style for the Highlifter Edition as well.

Clutching, snorkeling upgrade, rad relocate and right tires like everyone else will say but I’m 6’ 3” and a riser is key when most of the time your standing or kneeling on seat or racks!

This is by far my favorite mud specific atv. The low gearing is a great idea on Polaris’s end.

I def think a mud ATV should include bead-locked aggressive tires, lights of some sort, draining floor boards, decent gearing for high and low and a totally customizable paint scheme like polaris does with their sleds. Give the buyer more value and options for their cash. love the channel guys! Cheers from Newfoundland!

Snorkel consideration is very important. Thanks for the review. These very specific tires are awesome in the mud

they need to have front to back skid plates, beadlock rims, adequate clearance lift kit as a standard features

Personally I would say this machine is the best mud ATV from the factory…. I’m biased towards Polaris anyway so that’s mainly why I say that…. Must have factory equipment for mudding in my opinion include: raked A-arms, mud specific (big) tires, high mount rad and winch, tow hooks that are accessible when buried in the mud, beefier drive train (diffs, axles, etc), lots of power from the engine, good lighting for those dark mud covered trips home and something with more ground clearance then the normal trial ATV’s…. That’s what I’d include and I really hope one day Yamaha, Honda or Kawasaki take a stab at this market segment so we can see what they come out with!!! Love the videos DT!!!

Renegade xmr (2021) with a true diff lock. Most mud machines come with snorkels, rad relocate etc but a true diff lock is something you would always have to buy aftermarket until can am brought the true diff lock out from factory.

Cheers

I'm a polaris guy but the renegade xmr is sick and seems to win most of the mud events. Mud atvs need lower gearing, snorkels, rad relocate, and everything to be water tight. Basically everything this rig has lol they did it right

The highlifter 1000 by far is the best on the market. The biggest 'need' for mud is cooling, traction and power. The HL1000 has all three. Excellent review!

2021 xmr 850!!! I own one, having front diff lock is amazing, stiffer suspension, atv sits higher then regular outlander, snorkel rad relocate is huge, stock tires are actually quite competent on trail as well. I think Can-Am has the better machine but the Polaris is quite nice also.

I would say must haves are snorkels and a rad relocate. Not my style of riding but still cool. Waiting on my Polaris 570 trail to come in so I can start using it. I can’t wait!!!

1000R outlander XMR in my humble opinion is the top mud inspired machine and in a nut shell a proper snorkel set up along with a solid front locker(such as the smart lock not visco) and oversized mud tires is a must on any top mud machine:)
