I love how Shakespeare shows that teenagers and their parents haven't changed since the beginning of time. Moody Romeo up in his room and his poor mom and dad doing their best to try to understand him.

He's saying love hits you like a bus and leaves you confused and aching. That's why he's moody on the beach, in love with Roseline because... He saw her once? Anyway that's kinda like the point of what he's saying tho, he doesn't know her and he's still in pain from how much he thinks he loves her. This is also such a good representation of how youth is tender and new, and he is naive to love, but not to it's pain. Tormented by what he believes love to be, he walks the beach in his "artificial night". Shakespeare is still so relevant in many ways, one main one being how he represents their budding relationship and how they totally uhauled because they wanted everything to be permanent.
Thank you for coming to my ted talk and yes I was THAT person in the rj unit in high school 😙✌️

I love this movie. It just came to my mind, this music, this scene. I saw it as an almost-teenager, and the whole idea of it shocked me. I just knew Shakespeare was elevated and impossible to understand, but this movie is Shakespeare, the real Shakespeare, accessible and true. It made me want to read some of his books.

A detail I really love is how this song plays twice in the movie. The first time is in this scene, where romeo is intentionally brooding and trying tk get away from people. The next time the song plays is also when romeo is all alone except that time it was because he was exiled, to which he said that exile would be worse than death. The only difference between those two scenes is that in the second one, romeo has experienced juliet's love and devotion.

In my opinion, this scene was shot just perfectly. Everything is very atmospheric and harmonious: a young DiCaprio, a beautiful sunset over the sea, coastal surroundings and melancholic music. The mood is what you need.

Oh my goodness, this scene is so beautiful to me. Leonardo DiCaprio + Talk Show Host in the background is heaven to my eyes and ears.
