we multiply by (.866/.5) to the first equation because dividing the ".5F1" by 0.5 turns it into simply "F1" which then the multiplication of .866 turns it into ".866F1" which means its now ready to cancel out the "-.866F1" in second equation. This is the explanation my mind seeked out in the midst of confusion. I hope it helps someone else as well

i think he multiple with .866/0.5 is because he was using simultaneous equation. i've tried solving the two unknown ques using simultaneous equation and it worked!

Could you maybe do an example where say both F1 and the resultant force is unknown as well as theta ?

Thanks a lot. Forgot how to do the last past, feel kinda dumb I forgot about making the forces equal so they could cancel...
