Oscar Piastri clinched his first Formula 1 victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix, but the shine was somewhat taken off the win after a protracted McLaren team orders saga with team-mate Lando Norris throughout the final stint. Old adversaries came to blows as Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton clashed on track with Hamilton coming taking the final step on the podium. McLaren should have pitted the leading car 1st because everyone knew that the undercut was super strong here. But they did Lando and it backfired on them.

I was waiting for Lando’s engineer to say “please Lando I’ll clean your room for a month” it was borderline cringe 😂 but I loved it. God knows what Mclaren were thinking pitting Lando first

Lewis has to turn the corner, while Max comes sliding out of control inside. That is totally on Max. Not even a close decision on that one.

I could say Lando stalling the switch ruined his own chances for the win, if he had switched earlier he would have had more tire life to spend to attack Piastri near the end instead of gapping Piastri just to relinquish it in the end and flimsy driver management from McLaren

The team stuffed up with their strategy and fixed their blunder by taking the win from Lando

There was no need to pit lando before Oscar even blind Freddie could see Lando was going to undercut Oscar!.

The whole blame of all this is on McLaren

First come, first served; the best strategies favor the leading car. Thus, the plan should be for Oscar Piastri to pit first to cover the car behind. However, this could put Lando at risk since Lewis is closing in. Consequently, the likely outcome would be finishing first and third.

One of the things that bugs me most when reading the comments is that some people dont understand learning to win is almost as hard as getting to the point where you CAN win. McLaren are having growing pains. If thianhappens again, then we can snap and talk. Until then, lets see how they grow. Great teams arent great until they are, but there is always a road travelled

Who does redbull pick?

Danny has been getting faster and shows good race pace.

Yuki works well with his engineers to adapt strategy and string together multiple scoring weekends.

Although the Redbull guys would have seen Danny’s race pace, they would have also seen how Yuki handled that one stop and how he worked so well with his engineers.

I find it odd that no one is bringing up that it's about their contract... Piastri probably had a clause in his contract stating he is to win a grand prix..

Don’t understand why Norris gave way to his teammate when he’s 2nd in the standings. McLaren must be very confident in their car and must think they’re going to win a lot more races this year.

It came down to piastri making a mistake and putting lando in the undercut range. In the first round of pit stops piastri had built a gap so lando pitting a lap early meant nothing. He was then slower on the medium at the end. Mclaren have a chance to win both championships and they just gave away points. Hopefully next time they make the switch immediately and let them fight

I don't wanna cause any drama, but im still trying to get my head around the rules completely... There seems to be some people who believe that oscars first corner overtake was not allowed or at least not fair to Lando because he almost pushed him completely off the track. And if Lando wasn't so nice, they would have both been taken out... i know some say "Oscar was ahead at the apex its his corner..." but they were pretty much even with no one clearly ahead so?

Didn’t take long for the poms to start whinging about poor Lando and how unfair it was. However if the situation was reversed, the calls for Piastri to move over would have been deafening. Lando himself said once he saw it from Piastri’s view, he knew it was the right thing to do. The trust between them will be strengthened by this and they’ll be stronger going forward. They’re both going to need each other in the years ahead.
