About TEDx, x = independently organized event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Reappropriating some terms are noteworthy, while the term 'government' is one improperly used without many ever knowing their reason in using it in the first place ..

I actually had no idea the same racism I face is the same racism you face. Just so you know I don’t hate anyone for the color of their skin.

N.W.A. is OK but not THE"slants".

I wrote a letter in support of The Slants right to trademark their name based on my blog, JadeLuckClub (Celebrating Asian American Creativity)

You should have named your group “The Gentle Inclines” and see if anyone at the USPTO was smart enough to connect the dots.

Great talk on racism and re-appropriation of antiquated disparaging terms.

Thank you Simon, spot on. Video viewers, please Google hidden bias, go to the site, take the test and find your own racial hidden bias.

So unique to see an Asian man telling an all white audience what he believes to be racism. His race should take a look at itself. Zero diversified Japan does not allow immigration because they like it just the way it is. China will only allow immigration if you're wealthy and Korean people themselves will drive you out if you look like you may overstay your welcome. Yet when they come to an inherently Euro-Country they want to point out racism?

It's a good thing Simon found meaningful work after everything that happened with the gang on Serenity. I hope River is doing well.

Wow this was awesome. I think the way he explaned it was great. I understand what he was talking about it is true that they took something bad and made it into something good. Loved the graph, and the ending. I support this groop all the way.

Great video. It really is crazy how people think in this world or how they interpret it.

Umm, this sounds a bit naive. This is the U.S., and “slant(-eye)” definitely sounds like a slur to me. If I heard of a band of Asian Americans called The Slants, without the explanation given here, I would be quite confused about the point of that name. To each his own, anyway...
