I'd like to add that poppy is practically a hard counter. It's a bit less effective if you get pulled but the reasons why are:

1. Ultimate displaces Illaoi.
2. She has 2 abilities that interrupt her w, and when her w is interrupted, the tentacles don't swing.

Obviously practice the lane beforehand.
