This is an unexpected turn on Hela ngl, I thought she'd be the main villain of the season. Tbh this is my favorite parts of What if cause it shows the different paths that the heroes and villains could have taken

At first, I was worried at this having a downer ending with Hela conquering the world after killing Odin and betraying Wenwu, but I’m left amazed at how this turned out to be a well-written redemption arc for her (while also making her more sassy).

First they redeemed thanos and now they redeemed hela, tbh I like that, this series shows that even the darkest hearts can be redeemed

I love this turn of events for Hela, taking a similar path that of brother Thor. As Thor was sent on a path of inner-humility, Hela was sent on a path of inner-mercy. This entire episode was Hela’s own “riddle of steel”, fire being tempered with water. By displaying mercy n regaining her crown, she became an even more powerful force for good (nice reference on Gandalf The White). Definitely a candidate for the GOTM.

This is closer to her mythological counterpart. Hel is a goddess of death but also a goddess of life. She can be cruel but she always is fair and she has mercy for everyone who does not deserves her punishment.

And now MCU-Hela is exactly like this.

So in this universe, Good Hela and Good Wenwu work together to fight Thanos, it just Wenwu never met Ying Li. I hope Scarlet Witch(1602) can recruit them

In some ways, Hela proved herself to be dark a reflection on Thor and Loki:
Loki's ruthlessness in his pursuit in conquering Earth in the events of The Avengers dangerously as bad as Hela in the past, but all the God of Mischief actually wanted was to be acknowledged by Odin, become Thor's equal, and be accepted as a proud Asgardian in spite of his dark heritage. That, coupled with his love for his adoptive mother Frigga and in lesser extent, Thor, are what kept him from becoming a ruthless monster. Hela on the other hand, completely consumed by her own ambition as she was more than eager to turn against her family to get what she wanted and reject any chance of redemption given to her. Had Loki embraced his dark heritage, he would've ended up like Hela.

With Thor, on the other hand, Hela shared exact same bloodlust and crave for battle God of Lighting once had in the past that had Thor never learned about humility and value of life, he would have ended up just like Hela. In fact, she was indirectly one of the reasons why Odin banished Thor and turned him onto a mortal human in the first place.

What If Odin thought Hela could be redeemed but i didn't expected Hela to be depowered like Thor like Mjolnir replaced by her Crown but here its not worthiness but mercy
