Currently own a 1.9 TDI version of the Octavia, 2007 plate. Absolutely brilliant cars. It's 2019 now and it's passed the last 3 MOTs without so much as a recommendation beyond a new set of tyres. I also still get 60-65 mpg out of it!

here.s how: i pick a car for USE not lookling! and second, i'm paying for a CAR, not a brand, if i get a Skoda and not a VW i get more for less money!
and it looks like a car, not like weird concept car that descended from some other planet! and believe me, that conservative look has a great following.
it being used for taxi and police work also means it's BIG, rugged and reliable - and i value that in a car!
and Skoda had least break-downs per 100 cars of all brands under VW hat - a fact.

If there's a better all-rounder than the Octavia, then I'd love to know what it is: oodles of leg-room, huge boot, decent performance, hugs the road nicely, and good fuel economy. I disagree about the road noise, but that's subjective. It's definitely got what it takes, and ticks loads of boxes. What's not to like?

Just recently let my 2003 1.9 tdi Mk 1 Ambiente go after having her for 18 years absolute magnificent car bought her in 2007 with 40.000 on the clock when I dropped her off in May 2025 she had 270.650 on the clock. Was very sad letting her go. But bought myself a 2009 mk 2 elegance 2.0L with 101.868 miles full service history 1 elderly owner from new. It's in magnificent condition. Can't beat Octavia's i simply wont have anything else

I doubt than there's rivals for Skoda Octavia in it's secment, because is elegant, big, pretty good fuel engine consume, huge boots space, a lots of compartments, and hard as iron

Interior is better then those japanese and koreancars. Honda and Kia make their car looks like spaceships too much chrome and titanium its so ugly. Im glad Skoda keeps the oldskool alive :D If i must buy a new car right now it would be a Skoda octavia for sure!!

The car in question is a solid car with good equipment for the money, looks wise its no looker but then again its not bad looking either and to me it doesnt look like 90's GTA
