Insta360 ONE RS 1-INCH Leica 360 Camera (Shot it in Melbourne)
This is the Insta360 ONE RS One-Inch Leica 360 camera, I have been waiting for this camera for a very long time now.

First of all, why you need a 360 camera?
So 360 camera is a camera that records everything in different angle. And you get to choose what you wanna see in post. But if you asked me 3 to 4 years ago, I wouldn’t recommend a 360 camera at all. Because the camera resolution wasn’t there. And as I’m a filmmaker. Quality is the first thing I go for.

So how does a 360 camera works?
Let say you wanna do a 4K 360 video. 360 degree is the entire circle frame. So the front camera records the 180’c in front of you and the rear camera record the 180’c behind you. And when you view your footage, you will see two circles. And you use a software to combine both footage together to get a 360 ball. But this is not how you want your footage. You will need zoom into the angle that you want. But that way you only be getting a 1080p video or less even shooting in 4K.

But now with the newest Insta360, it lets you shoot in 6K. So after zooming in and reframing your shot. You will still have 4K resolution. This is really good. And the 1” sensor gives you much better quality video.

The benefit of shooting 360 video?
When using a normal camera, the way you shoot it is pretty much all fixed. There is no way you could do the titling and panning in post. You always have to plan your shot before hand. But with the 360 camera. You can pretty much leave it for post production. This is very handy especially for Timelapse video. As you don’t have to get a motion control system.

Most of the shots were done with a slow walking in, and the titling and panning were done in post.

Over all, this One-inch Leica 360 camera is really fun. I can actually make a cinematic video with this camera. Mind you, only one battery is not enough for you to film the entire day, you will need some spare ones.

Pros
- One Inch Sensor with Leica lens
- superb image quality

Cons
- Can’t put ND filter
- No H.265 or higher bitrate on H.264
- If you need to export in 4K above you have to use the desktop Insta360 studio

Beautiful shot as always. But the fish eye distortion seems quite annoying sometimes. Since it's has a once inch censor, some sample of night shot would be nice. Thanks for sharing, keep it up.

Cool little camera! The fish eye is a bit bothersome, but excellent imagery.

Well done job in linear mode.Hope someone will start to make "bent" image sensor to get whole frame sharp.

Thanks for the interesting footage. I wish this was uploaded as a 4K file though, as YT's compression seems to have messed this up big time. It feels like low bitrate 720p as it is demonstrated here and it is not easy to judge what a user actually gets with this camera.

Nice, but compression articacts everywhere... 100Mbit for 6K footage is simply too low.
