As a Texan I love this. I’m all about Elon’s mindset. To me, Texas has always been great. It is so diverse. You have plains, farmland, oil fields, coastal beaches and plateaus. We used to have NASA which was great at the time but now Texas has Elons spaceships.

Elon was right to move launches to Texas. He hinted at the problems with launches at Vandenberg. I know that on a personal basis as I was dealing with the launch rate back in the 90's and it has only become worse. Texas and Florida are going to be the best places to launch rockets in the future.

SpaceX should (obviously) not focus on one single location. Will the CA employees who move to Texas continue to vote democrat? The example of Austin indicates they will. The leftist woes of CA may very well follow SpaceX to Texas. For the time being, getting out of CA is clearly a good move, but Elon needs to keep a wary eye on how things can change. No matter how remote and empty a location he moves his launch site to, there's always some faction that will be upset. He could launch ten miles offshore, and someone would claim he's scaring the seagulls.
