The defense chiefs of Seoul and Washington have reaffirmed the need to deploy U.S. strategic military assets to the region following North Korea's latest missile launches.
During phone talks on Wednesday, Defense Minister Lee Jong-sup and his American counterpart, Lloyd Austin, strongly condemned Pyeongyang for its provocations....and vowed to strengthen their joint defense posture.
The two also agreed to resume their Extended Deterrence Strategy and Consultation Group at the earliest date.
In a separate statement, the U.S. Defense Department later said they agreed to further discuss trilateral security cooperation with Japan.
