Power Supply Paperclip Test in 1 Minute! (Tutorial - How to determine if your PSU is DOA)

A quick and easy power supply test to test the functionality of the unit and make sure it isn't DOA. All you need is to plug the PSU into a power source and use a metal paperclip.

I was plugging in my psu and it wasn't working I thought it was doa but I found this video and it worked (this is my first PC build) thank you my guy.

Dont do that. Put the jumper wire in first and then either switch on your psu or plug it in. That way you dont get shocked if you put the jumper in wrong.

My psu fan turned but just barely, is it still dead?

Do you have to unplug everything or can I just unplug the 12 connector and do the test?
Thanks! My pc just shut off and now will not turn on. When I turn on the psu switch, only the MB rgb lights come on, nothing else.

Is it normal for the fan on the PSU to stop spinning after a few seconds of doing the test?

Mine was spinning a little slow and it seemed weak but it did not stop spinning until i turned it off. Did i pass ?

Mine doesn’t spin at all does this mean it is broken? It is new came right out of the box and isn’t working in my new pc. I am considering buying a Corsair one have to coolermaster nog
