This a short video in which I demonstrate How to edit hosts file in Windows 10. This should work for any version of windows.

If you cant save it just copy the file for example on to the desktop, edit it and put it back in to etc folder.

The location for the hosts file is: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

Fastest way in windows 10:

WindowsKey+X and press A for open PowerShell as administrator, then type "not" (without quotation marks) and press <TAB> key and it will autocomplete notepad.exe.

then press <space> and type "dr" without quotation marks and press <tab> key TWICE and it will autocomplete .\drivers\ then type 'etc' (without quotation marks) or type et and press <tab> it will auto complete .\drivers\etc\ then finally type 'h' (without quotation marks) and press <tab> and it will autocomplete .\drivers\etc\hosts and press <ENTER> key

It will open hosts file via notepad as administrator.
Press <CTRL> + <END> key to go to the end of the file and edit it.

Press Alt+F4 to close the notepad and press Y for Yes and it will save the hosts file
or you can just press CTRL + S for save and leave the notepad open for later use. optionally you can switch back to the PowerShell again by pressing Alt+Tab keys, then type ipconfig /flushdns and <enter> (in case you need to take the quick effect)
