How about pitcher plants capturing phantoms?

Part way through the podcast I started writing an email about a fountain of youth mechanic for baby animals... and then the words were stolen out of my mouth

My Minecraft skin is a skeleton so what I did was ignore all the votes and just transform myself into a skeleton and try playing the game like that. Turns out that it's actually maybe a bit too easy other than not being able to go out during the day. It's kinda like playing in peaceful mode except wolves attack you.*

* well guardians do too, and piglins if you're not wearing gold, also endermen if you look at them etc. And weirdly phantoms, despite being undead, which just seems like something they didn't think of

Also being exactly two blocks tall and not being able to crouch was more of a pain than I expected, it makes your movement feel very awkward. You get stuck on stuff like moss carpets and spots where you "hit your head" going up or down a block have no leeway, you have to line up properly to be able to jump or drop, otherwise you really do hit your head.

Maybe pitcher plants keep spiders away same way that cats scare creepers and blue mushrooms scare hoglins

I don't like the idea of the baby animals not growing up, at least not in vanilla survival. I'd be fine with it as a creative mode option or a command or maybe a datapack, but in vanilla survival it just breaks the whole thing Minecraft has about trying to be responsible about how it depicts animals. And it just feels wrong.
