Corporations with power that rivals government doing what government legally can't do. Brave new world.

Tim, this is just an honest mistake on Twitter's part. They are learning on the way, they will do better. They promised :)

Just the beginning... have a look at Europe's Article 13 (now 17). The "Meme Ban" law as you would call it.

People need to stop using twitter and other social media platforms that do this. No point in complaining anymore, just abandon these platforms.

The thing is, EVERYTHING is offensive to someone. There's almost certainly some freak out the who even finds puppies objectionable. So where does it ever end? When everyone, except our new master, is banned from speaking at all.

Accept totalitarianism, or accept that people can sometimes say hurtful, untrue, or inappropriate things. That's our choice.

What freaks me out is that although we knew it was coming, it's the speed at which it has happened.
I was worrying about censorship thinking it would kick in hard by the mid 20/30s but it's happening much faster than even I thought it would.

Twitter wouldn't have these issues if everyone just stopped using it.

Corporations: *has money 💰💰*

Twitter: "What can we do for you?"

How about you just don’t use twitter and live your life

Congratulations. We've now set a legal precedent for the removal of news and information based on the impact to corporations and their shareholders. This honestly sends a shiver down my spine.

Anyone who would write off a single instance fails to see the whole picture. As much as I hate the term ʺslippery‐slopeʺ, is it not applicable? It sets a precedent. If Twitter is going to enforce certain policies then (I guess) that is their prerogative; but IMO they must ։ [a] enforce their policies consistently without breaking the laws where they operate ; [b] make those policies publicly known ; and,  [c] not make assertions that contradict their policies. Regardless ... I still feel it is WRONG and counter to the greater values of their membership.

Stop censoring my comment Tim! I know you trying to hold a white man down

The slippery slope was entered when people accepted private entities to regulate speech with silly "but it's a private platform" excuses.
Until people demand that private platforms that host - and profit from - user content adhere to the same standards as the government/state, this problem will only get worse.
