Is 'failure analysis' before engine failure a thing? You bet! And when you're pushing 4 times the power or more than the OEM engineers ever planned for, why not learn as much as you can about what can and will go wrong before it does, right? 🤓 🧠

My engine builder once told me “A light that burns twice as bright lasts half as long”

Run it to the ground and find out what’s broken and what wears out and fix and improve on that. Genius.! Simply genius .❤

Well said. This is the only way to not fall a step behind in motorsport

I would rather build a car within my budget that can be so consistent it will bracket race with no question, Than have a car pieced together on the fringe of my budget that makes more power but has the headaches of a pieced together build. Consistency is better than not driving at all because its broken, like roadkill. Even with their sponsors, pulling the wrapper off brand new crate engines and gearstar transmissions, but they always have headaches and broken cars because they don't do shit right the first time.

Check for damage or failure then push the next level

this is a really smart piece of advice that most shops today won't even tell you/don't even feel this way

That’s how you figure out what works at a level you have to rely on. It’s real world research!

You have a very good point and that makes perfect sense.

Wish I had that attention to detail when I was younger. I would love that obsession.

Knowing me and how abusive I am any engine In a car, I could probably have a modded out engine with better performance parts but still keep around the same power as before, yk just have it naturally aspirated, and be okay. If only I learned the first time not to redline a 20 year old Camry. I'm now on my 4th engine 😕

Step 1 to the Scientific Method: make observations. You’re completely correct.

Smart program. Assest each part as you go along watch thing's see if you can get more life out of the engine.

Why I always try and make sure the engine has more oil pressure and flow than factory even just 100hp I’d increase oil pressure and try and get some improved bearings

That’s why I love rb-jz reliable 600hp everyday with minor changes no need for 1200-3000hp as shit breaks and is very expensive doing it that way I drive and rb30-25 skyline r33 daily with 600hp it’s so fun and scary you don’t need more it’s actually funner to drive a slower car every now and then but guys racing have the money even ls engines make easy power reliably for years without issues with just simple modifications and building the right way the first time if you blueprint an engine just like they did from the factory but with newer more reliable parts all engines make great power and last for a very long time

Drag racing on the other hand is just a send it game if she breaks she breaks but for people wanting the power and reliability for the long term do it the right way do research for what you want it’s amazing what info is out there there is no secrets anymore it’s not a science and join hpacademy watch and learn and do it yourself and have fun you don’t need the fastest car in the world to have fun simple modifications to a daily driver makes life a little more enjoyable on the way to work

You could do that but what fun would that be. "Let's take it apart before it breaks" BORING
9000 rpm window the block "dude that was FREAKING AWESOME " Let's do it again.
