Sith are supposed to be prideful and boasting about ascending to eternal life or some form of godhood. Sion and Nihilus are great because both show you what happens were a Sith to actually achieve this. We don't know jack about Nihilus and some people penalized him in the ratings for that, but I would argue that's the point of his character. A Sith *should* be prideful. Nihilus *should* be boasting loudly about his power. Yet, he doesn't. I love that, because it shows the Sith that Nihilus was is long gone. Nihilus does not wield the Dark Side, the Dark Side wields him.

Dart Nihilus has more development than it looks like at first. The thing is that it all happens through other characters.

A moment I particularly like is when, just after defeating him, you can ask Visas about what is behind Nihilus' mask. If you ask "What is there?" she answers something akin to "a graveyard of dead planets, fallen jedi and a wound in the force" but if you ask "What did you see?" she just answers "a man, nothing more".

The writing in this game is top notch

Darth Nihilus to me is one of the most coolest looking, yet fascinating Sith Lord's in EU. He's so terrifying, haunting, and ( much like Darth Vader ) he's full of tragedy and despair.

What make's him unique is that he cares nothing for the Sith or it's teachings, or the Jedi...he's not like any other Sith Lord's where they want to take control of the galaxy and rule with an iron fist. Nihilus is much different.

What make's him so terrifying is his trademark ability to drain entire planets to feed his ravenous, yet insatiable hunger for power to sustain himself. Whether it's the Jedi, the Sith, the Republic, or the galaxy itself, he would do anything to quench his unlimited hunger for power. The only thing he was afraid of was letting his own hunger devour him. He also has a cool character design which I was always puzzled. Whenever he devours planets, he's become Death, the destroyer of world's.

I give The Lord Of Hunger an A.

He doesn’t have a lot of character development, but he doesn’t need a lot a the same time. Nihilius became an abomination from Malachor’s death and destruction. Even with how little we know of his time before that, Visas’s and Kreia’s dialogue about what he’s become is enough to establish his foreboding presence throughout the game. He also is apart of a “two sides of the same coin” dynamic with the Jedi Exile. The Exile turned away from power at Malachor and became stronger for it; while Nihilius gave in to power and became a slave to it.

All of the Sith Triumvirate highlight how being a slave to the Force can bring destruction to themselves, but none more than Nihilius. He exemplifies how giving in to power can destroy one’s very own being and ideologies. Kreia said he would feed until all life in the galaxy was extinguished, no matter if they were Jedi or Sith. Truly the Lord of Hunger because Hunger was all that was left inside of him.

To me, Nihilus is the Star Wars version of Galactus. While he is powerful, ultimately he is a slave to his power more than a wielder of it. Galactus must feed on planets or die; Nihilus would be able to relate. Assuming he is able to relate to anything at that point. More classic storytelling by EU Star Wars.

I honestly don't know what character has been more consumed by the dark side than him. Palpatine at least was more or less still conscience but Nihilus was completely stripped of his humanity to where he's merely a lifeless monster consuming what he can find. I do also find it interesting that unlike some other sith whose skin turns vampire white, his skin is just black ash that is so dark that it's almost hard to make out his facial features.

As for a side note, I really do like how Nihlius' power to eat planets parallels with Vader saying in A New Hope "The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant to the power of the force."

And his name alone is pure epicness and I love the design... That game questioned the Jedi code the best... Great writing

What makes Darth Nihilius such a terrifying character is that he is the only one who has become one with the force, yet is still a player in the galaxy. Everyone pretty much accepts there is no person left, all that is there is the force. Neither the Jedi nor the Sith have any tools or means to defeat Nihilius; it is like trying to stop a tornado.

The distinct lack of personhood means there is not much you can do with the actual character. Instead, he serves more as a vehicle to demonstrate just how destructive and evil the force can be. It shows just how dangerous the force can be, and Nihilius is nuclear explosion.

Chris Avellon definitely gave us the most mature and adult version of Star Wars.

Darth Nihilius is a monument to all of the sins of the Jedi. In a way, he was a punishment. That’s what I take away from his existence

When I first played KOTOR 2 I didn't realize that Darth Nihilus and Darth Sion were two different characters, I thought Darth Nihilus was Darth Sion wearing a robe. I just knew that the Rule of Two was a thing, saw Darth Sion was a Sith, later saw Visas Marr and thought "oh, she must be Sion's apprentice". So the only other Sith had to be the same guy I saw earlier. It made sense that a guy who was filled with hunger and killed planets, and who was talked up as being the only thing holding his ship together, was the same guy whose body was broken apart and mysteriously held together earlier. So after I killed Darth Nihilus but Darth Sion was still around, I was confused.

I completely agree with the Galactus analogy as it fits Nihililus perfectly. And not just regular Galactus but Ultimate Extinction Galactus, where he isn't a giant Guy, but a Swarm of machines with a Hive Mind intelligence. The methods utilized by the Galactus Swarm was Terrifying really.
Yet that variant is still the Coldest version I've ever seen. There is an intelligence there it's just boiled down to the pursuit of Energy.
The rate at which it expends energy is Enormous and would make Doc Brown lose his ever loving mind.
So the pursuit of Sufficient sources like a life rich world a horrifying eternal Hunger that can Never be satisfied.
That's totally Nihilus.

He's kind of like Sauron in some ways. He is more of an entity than an actual person. I can understand not liking him as much because he isn't a developed character, but he isn't supposed to be.

Darth caidus from Star Wars legends is a truly deep character he is built from the world he lives in in his motives and ambitions he uses the Darkside out of love and desire to not kill Luke but to save the meny over the few making a complex character that you don’t know whether to support or hate. Which makes him one of the most intriguing and engaging characters. And although Ben solo is still an interesting character he doesn’t reach this level of complexity.

As a concept, yes. One of my all time favorites. A true representation of what the dark side is capable of. Not developed too much but that’s what I like most about it. It’s a lot like a dark side Yoda. The less you know the more interesting it is

In the game... way to easy to defeat. Sion was the most fun to fight, the rebirth effect forced you to think a little bit it was kind of cool

I like listening to Kreia's monologue of Nihilus this guy on YouTube made a cool vid with music that's pretty legit sorry I forgot his name.
Edit: it's JJ Edits he's got 3 vids of Kreia that are worth the watch even if you already know the lore.
