“Anita de Monte laughs last” is an amazing book. As an artist and feminist it really resonates with me. Thank you for the recommendation

I was so happy to hear about this prize from the bookclub chat. I have been trying to obtain all these books ever since and plan to read them all. Both Booker prizes were disappointing for me this year and I am hoping that this will be a prize I permanently follow. Thanks!

Thanks for bringing this prize to my attention. Lots of great possibilities here. Like you, I have enjoyed several on this list, especially James, Anita Del Monte and the Safekeep.

I picked up Anita De Monte and loved it from the first page. So many things are worth savoring. Thank you for the recommendation.

Oh no! I was enjoying the lull between book prizes so I could catch up on other reading, and now this 😂 Some of them aren't available in the UK yet though, but I'll be sure to keep an eye out.

I knew about this prize but for some reason didn't realize it was for fiction with a focus on social impact... maybe its because I always think of Aspen, CO, as an expensive ski vacation spot!!! But what a cool prize - thanks for sharing!

Thrilled to see Anita de Monte on this list. I don’t see it talked about much, but it was one of my favorites I read this year.

Sky Full Of Elephants sounds interesting. Fingers crossed the writing style will work for me. There's some interesting sounding books on this list. Thank you

Just started Fire Exit. Many of these books sound great.
Wait.. We agreed about The Safekeep! Did I miss that. Something to be celebrated.

This is a great long list! I’ve only read two of the books, but many are on my TBR and most of what wasn’t on my TBR is being added. One of the books I did read was Mad Woman with my in person book club, and hearing about all the other books on this long list I’m not sure it belongs here. It’s a fun page turner that provoked some good discussions, but too many cringy cliches for it to be anything more than that, especially when compared to many of the other books on this list.

Hi Scott I loved Anita De Monte Laughs Last. Such a good book. Is it eligible for the Women’s Prize or has it missed the boat. James is waiting for me at the library but I am reading the new Elif Shafak at the mo so don’t need any distractions.

I picked up Mad Woman when it was published a few months ago. Time to pick it up . Now I remember why I bought it. In fact, I’m going to confess here and now that I already own all of these except Before the Mango Ripens. Well, L has Anita De Monte Laughs Last. I need more time to read.

Agree that it is a fabulous longlist. I've just finished Kingdom of No Tomorrow and loved it. Immersive, nuanced in its exploration of the Black Panthers, and a very engaging story. Five stars for me. Just started Before the Mango Ripens and very impressed so far.

I am halfway there! I have read 7 so far Starting Devil is Fine today. So far, it has been a great reading experience. I hope to get a big chunk read before The Republic of Consciousness Award Longlist is announced next month 😮

Don't read Wander Stars until you have read There There - TT is a better book, WS is good, but needs TT being read to really make sense.
