Connecting Nintendo Switch via Composite AV to OLD CRT Television

Hi, this video shows you how to connect up the Nintendo Switch to a CRT old TV via the Composite AV input (yellow, white and red connectors).
You need a cheap HDMI to Composite converter/adapter which is £9 from eBay and Amazon. The picture will only be 480p but it is playable.
Many thanks Vince.

So you're telling me that I can play Zelda BoTw in the same TV I used to play OoT? Cool!

wow, very cool that this works with little frustration or noticeable input lag. it'd be cool to play NES/SNES games on a proper retro TV with the Switch

Composite only goes up to 480i. For 480p you'd need component or higher.

Thank you! I'm confident I can do this now. Just ordered the converter and 6-ft cable from amazon.

Just tried it tonight via composite to hdmi adapter via my Wii U and it worked. Only switched out the adapters USB cable with the one that came with the Wii U since it was a better cable and used some store bought HDMI cables and some composite ones and was pleasantly surprised. Both sound and picture were good. So onto getting the Switch.

Thank u so much. Our TV is old too but it's big.I don't have a switch yet, but I was scared of not being able to run the switch in TV mode when I get one.

1:25 Speaking of NTSC, the NTSC TVs have 60hz, but it's not only in the US. There are some in Canada, Mexico, Cuba, Central America, etc.

Speaking of PAL, it works only with 50hz except for Brazil. in Brazil, they use PAL, but their TVs have 60hz just like NTSC, the rest of PAL countries such as Britain, Ireland, Australia, etc. It works with 50hz

Thanks for the share. Yeah, this is exactly how I had to connect my laptop to my old RCA Colortrak Plus after the screen took a fall.

Is there a way to use the s port to hook up the switch, instead of the a/v ports on the old t.v.?

Note: I bought an HDMI to a/v convertor. I works great. Paid $12.99 on Amazon, came with power supply and a/v cable. Thanks for the informative video.

This video was really helpful for me, thank you so much for making this! I'm currently studying abroad and the only TV I've got access to is a small CRT one. I got a cheap cable and converter and it works just fine!
Just one thing: during play, the TV will go black and white. Do you perhaps know why that is?
