Is the Star Cannon still worth it in Terraria 1.4?? The Star Cannon. In this video, I take a look at the iconic star cannon and see if its still a good choice in terraria 1.4. This weapon was always great against the wall of flesh but how is it now?

If the Star Cannon received like a 10-20% DMG Buff I feel like a lot more people would start using it, or if it had a built-in ammo reservation of 10% that later jumps to 30% alongside the greater DPS of Super Star Shooter.

Star cannon in classic gamemode: *A very powerful gun that is really good against invasions, but requires a lot of grinding*
Star cannon in journey: *IM THE STORM THAT IS APPROACHIIIING*

My strategy for WoF includes the star cannon but doesn't use it as a main weapon. I craft it as I progress and use fallen stars I've passively collected as ammo. By the end of pre-hardmode this is usually around 140 for me (depending on how slow I want to take the run). When I fight the WoF, I use a couple main class-oriented weapons for most of the fight, but once WoF starts speeding up significantly, I pull out the Star Cannon and finish it off. No need to worry about ammo, and getting meteorite isn't much of a hassle. Pretty worth it if you treat the weapon casually.

It's good in journey mode since you can just duplicate stars:D
Anyways it's actually quite fun using star cannon

I use the star cannon for extremely hard runs (like my heavily modded run I'm doing right now), but other than that, I use other weapons as they have more veratility and don't require nearly as much grinding.

If it had some ammo conservation it would probably see more use

I never actually used the star canon just because I thought that it would be too much of a hassle to get the stars.

In normal terraria playthroughs, the star cannon can be used as a sort of deus ex machina, an emergency plan for bosses at the cost of valuable stars. but in modded versions that have the alchemistnpc mod installed, it is a much better option since the alchemist npc sells fallen stars, so you dont need to waste much time or resources. and additionally if you're using luiafk, you can craft unlimited fallen stars, which makes firing the star cannon so much more cost efficient

I never needed to grind for anything when I used the star cannon because of how many stars fall to the ground at night. I got like 150 stars before defeating the wall of flesh without even trying. This gun with unreal reforge and necro armor did like 70+ damage per hit at a fast fire rate so it is definitely worth it. It melted the wall of flesh even in expert mode.

I still use the star cannon as an opening hardmode weapon while I grind for the onyx blaster or shadowflame bow. It’s remarkably efficient at cleaning up early hardmode enemies with pre-hardmode gear.

I know this weapon just because a youtuber (obsidian time) used it in hitless expert plantera fight. It is too expensive for its damage. But i like the idea.

Really would love to see it have an alternative ammo. Like star fragments, you can use 1 start to make a dozen or so and they don't pierce but they're also viable ammo for the star canon

You’ve probably heard this phrase over hundreds of times already, but honestly you’re one of the greatest content creators that I’ve seen as of late. The videos you made inspired me to go and play Terraria again after a few months of stopping. Never stop making these high quality videos my man 🔥🔥

I feel like after the recent update massively increasing star drop rates and being able to skip days by sleeping it is a lot easier to grind fot making it worth it. I defeated wof woth about 50 stars, beenades and a hellwing bow with jesters arrows. The stars were collected over time. I'd say its still more valid than farming the Queen bee for beenades

It's good if you're doing OOA. It's not exactly a launcher but since all launchers are HM only, I use the Star Cannon as the Pre-HM for my launcher playthroughs.

Also, use dirt to make a bridge at the sky for extra blinkroot used for spelunking potions

If you play the fight with the destroyer correctly you can get it to chase you horizontally for a short time. Using the star cannon while the destroyer is doing this is absolutely deadly, the damage you achieve when hitting almost all 82 segments is nuts. I was struggling with mastermode with the 1.4 update and could not kill any mech boss (even the destroyer with the Daedalus bow), but that star cannon did the trick.

The star cannon is a way to use those fallen stars that the player has been idly collecting over the course of their pre hard mode playthrough, so I do not think there was ever meant to be a grind to use the weapon. It simply rewards you for spending more time in pre hard mode.

This weapon and its upgrade carried me to post golem, though it is expensive i do have a duplication glitch, 10/10 would use again

I feel like even in terms of defeating the WoF, there are better alternative which are both cheaper and more versatile.

Beenades, hellwing bow, bee's knees, demon scythe, and possibly some others I'm forgetting.

Imo it needs a small buff. (and so does the super star cannon)
