Film Simulations for Sony cameras are finally here!
Sony is known for having bad colors, but is it really so?

In this short film, I present to you 8 Film Profiles that that will change your perspective on sony colors just by using sony picture profiles.

They include the Perfect S-Log recipe, that removes ugly green hues from skin tones that everybody is complaining about, giving you great colors out of camera, that might not even require any sort of grading.

All Sony cameras with the picture profile menu are compatible.

The latest version is updated to the Sony a6700 color science, but all Sony cameras with the picture profile menu are compatible, with the slight need of in-camera color matching. Even if you have an older camera, it can be closely color matched with a couple simple adjustments.

Mirrorless cameras including, and all newer models starting from the Sony a7S I, a7II, a7C, a7CR, a7RII, a9 III, a6300, ZV1, ZV-1F, ZV-E10, ZV-E1, Sony a1, RX100 IV, and all the newer models released after these models are compatible.

The following Cinema models are compatible: FX30, FX3.
The FX6, FX9, & the Venice have a different menu and require different settings.

Some Sony Camcorders are compatible with Sony Film Simulation Picture Profiles.

At the moment, the RX1 RII Full frame camera does not have the picture profile menu, so it's not compatible.

Hopefully, they’ll include it in the newer models.

🐛 Color Grading Course 🐛

🐙ONE TIP with the film profiles try shooting at different kelvin and use the color filter to emphasize on different hues. If you shoot at correct settings like exposure, white balance then the effect that you'll get are minimized. They are meant to be used in a more creative way. 🐙

These are the picture profiles that i have been working on for the past year, and were made to emulate the Look of popular Film Stocks like Velvia 50, Kodak Gold 200, Kodak Portra 800, Ektar 100, FujiFilm 400h, Cinestill 800T and Custom 35mm film emulation as well. They work on multiple Sony cameras like sony a6300 series a7s III sony a7c a7 III sony a7iv a1 sony fx6, sony a7iii video.

I found them to be the best picture profile and use them for street photo, portrait, nature, travel blogs and commercial work. Try these Film profiles on any Sony camera for a 35mm feel and let us know in the comments what you think of these film simulation recipe !

watched this video when Fuji launched their newest product x100vi, didn't pre-order because I found the channel of a genius color engineer like you who showed the flexibility of Sony cameras with brilliant methods, subscribed, success always to you

Years!!! I have been searching for this kind of video for years. Fuji has a community of sharing the film simulation settings and the Sony community seems not focusing on this topic much. Thanks for sharing your setting, Veres, and keep up the good work. Subscribed and will share this channel to friends.

Just plugged these into my A6400 while having my morning coffee. Super easy and I am super novice with this part of the menu. What a fun project! My only wish is sony would let me rename the picture profiles in the menu. Thanks for your work on this. Subscribed!

I always wondered why recipes are such a Fuji-Thing. Finally someone started this :D Thank you so much, that's exactly what I needed

Interesting, I wouldn’t have thought to push things so far with the picture profiles. I’ve always thought of them as a way to get the most flat, neutral starting point for later manipulation. Cool stuff.

Great video man! Originally started with film so this is really nice to have as a reference. I like the Sony system but always wished for Fujis film simulation. Thank you!

I mainly do photos (so no idea on video front for this) and I found for Portra 800, which was my favourite and main film stock I used, these settings have worked well for me. Obviously film is different depending on how it's exposed + where/how it's processed so YMMV. Putting it here as an alternative or if it helps anyone (mainly photos) for a reference:

I expose P800 film by +0.3 or +1.3 so these are the colors I get:

Sony a6400 sensor
WB: 5000K, A:2.5 G:1.5 (Tweak color as needed)
Black Level - 0
Gamma - Cine2
Black Gamma - Middle, -2
Knee - Manual, 90%, 0
Color mode - Cinema
Saturation - +20
Color Phase - +3/+4
R -2
G +5
B +4
C +2
M +4
Y -2
Detail -3
Manual, Type 5
Limit/Crispning - 7/7

This is great! If you do this again, I'd love to see the profiles without any additional grading or effects so that we can get a better sense of what they look like on their own.

I don’t think you realize how fantastic this is. This combined with Dehancer’s halation, bloom, and grain makes for some some super easy post flow.

Bro, what the fuck. Just found your channel, blown away by the quality of your stuff. And you reply to so many questions and comments. The fact you haven't blown up seems fucked up. Keep at it man. This taught me a lot about being creative within the bounds you your camera to pull off some wild stuff.

That’s dope! Awesome work man!
I am a long time Sony owner, and just sold my fujifilm just after 1 month owning it, because I cannot get used to the control of it. And ever since I only shoot with my adjusted creative style for my Sony. Hoping to shoot straight out from camera without too much coloring. And now you provide us these amazing work, it really open up our creativity when shooting. You are awesome.

Dude, how incredible that you figured out to really take control of all the settings to create these types of picture profiles. I can only imagine how much time you spent adjusting the details.
