I’m beginning to accept that Christmas lights around the Thanksgiving preparation season is okay since it seems to be the norm now in the midwest to avoid decorating in the cold. So, I now consider it just dressing up and making the Thanksgiving “season” pretty, too. 🎄

Growing up our tree always went up on Christmas Eve and all the decorations and it came down the day after New Years.

Friday is the day to get the tree, put it up the weekend! Then you have a sphagh and meatball dinner and ice cream sundaes with home made hot fudge

Technically the tree is supposed to light on Christmas Eve as it becomes Christmas Day. It remains for 12 days. The lighting at this time is to represent the birth, followed by the star announcing the birth followed by the 12 day journey of the wise men following the star. 🌟 thanksgiving is a day to celebrate surviving in the new country and coexisting with the natives. I don’t know how the two got so mixed.
