I switched from the Fold 5 to the Oneplus last year and it has been a mixed bag. For one the supposedly so much brighter screen on the Oneplus on paper really wasn't that much brighter at all. The haptic feedback feels cheap on the OP. And then there are software bugs. Adaptive screen brightness never holds my setting it always goes way to dim. YouTube has bugs with screen zoom. My cover picture dissappears regularly to name a few. Software is King. That is why I am switching back to the Fold 6.

Durability and repairability is a massive factor. On Twitter I'm seeing several people who have been getting broken OnePlus Opens and OnePlus had a wait time of months for repairs. Samsung actually has repair options in the states. And this new phone should be even more durable.

I personally like the Z-fold 6 front screen size I like that it’s easy to one hand hold instead of a wide fat screen

I chose the OnePlus Open due to its multitasking features! I think they are unbeatable. I use editing apps, and they take too much time to export, so I love playing Genshin Impact while they are exporting! I also love the camera; it captures my skin beautifully! But, I love the colors the zf 6 comes in and its latest boxy design! I had a Samsung Note 10 before, and I love the customization options Samsung offers!

Great review mate! I'm excited to see what OnePlus will do with the Open 2!

Yo, the Z Fold 6 should've been like the OnePlus Open form factor, man. But Samsung's warranty is way better here, so I guess I'm stuck with them.

The One Plus Open is rhe better phone. I work at T-Mobile and i can tell you One Plus phones are great quality in build and materials.

The 512gb Open starts at $1700 full price and with the $200 trade in offer it’s $1500. The 512gb Fold 6 starts at $2020 full price and I was able to trade my iPhone 11 Pro Max for $750. With no other promotion or sale, the cost of the 512gb Fold 6 is $1270 after trading in a 5 year old phone (granted I paid much less with other discounts and promotions but you understand my point). Wouldn’t that be considered a better steal? Especially when you’re talking about a device being nearly a year old compared to a brand new one.

They are two different lanes that makers chose. Samsung (and it bugs me when people complain that they aren't innovating or taking risks) has made it clear that this is the form factor they chose. They're improving and making it better. But they want you to open it up and use it more than using the outer screen. They even call the open screen the main screen. They don't want you to open it only at times. OP made it where it's more reminiscent of a typical slab and to some that's what they prefer as it's more usable when closed. Then again, if you have a foldable, why use it mostly closed? Two camps here honestly and each side is "right." It's a matter of what you prefer.

Fold form factor is perfect. Dex alone makes it better.

Question: It is said that maybe Samsung keeps the slimmer front screen because it's easier for one hand operation, I actually use one-hand operation (to be able to operate the whole phone one handed and just your thumb). What do you the think, as most tech reviewers are iPhone users and one-hand operation doesn't exist, nor did it ever exist.

Got my hands on the new Z Fold 6 2days ago. It looks and feels fantastic! YOU HAVE TO FEEL & HOLD IT. The refinement is absolutely on point on every angle. The built feels so robust! Photos and videos won't do justice. You have to check it out! I upgraded from my current Z Flip 5. Excited to receive my preorder. 🔥

Been rocking Oneplus Open since 8 months and trust me its far better than the samsung fold..I had fold 3 and 4 from samsung and i didnt use either of em for more than 3 months because of the narrow display, weight and thickness..Also the IR blaster on the OnePlus is something which i use alot

It seems like a joke that Oneplus releases a mobile phone that is better in functionality and Samsung is already up to 6. The exterior screen is better than Oneplus without a doubt. I wanted to buy the Samsung, but I don't see that useful improvement. Despite being almost the same size, I think Oneplus knows how to do things and has proven it. Oneplus and Honor, both I think they are better foldable

I've got the fold 4, but will be looking forward to the one plus 2. Hopefully it would improve even than the fold 6 for samsung to catch up on their fold 7.

Bro $1100 trade in for my broke Note 3 definitely makes the fold 6 the best fold phone in this planet. Can't worry about specs and stats and on-paper stuff with this kind of deal lol

I am sorry but unless the one plus open improved software it just can’t hold up to the fold. I could not take the fact that my widgets would keep shrinking. Also the hinge was not as great. That spring would snap open and it would also snap close when I tried to use it in flex mode which will eventually damage the phone. But overall it was a good phone until I sold it, the fast speed charging on the one plus was great though. The camera however was straight just okay on the oneplus open.

I'm very impressed with the One Plus, but I'm sticking with my just arrived Fold 6, here's why:

1) I absolutely dispise seeing a punch hole. Granted it's viewable on an angle in the inner Fold but it's not viewable like the OnePlus. I have ocd so it would drive me nuts seeing it all the time on the OnePlus.

2) I got off nearly $1000 off the Fold 1TB model, so it's $250 cheaper then the 512GB One Plus. (Same trade in of a S21)

3) Being these both are expensive, I want as much water protection as possible. The Fold 6 has that.

4) I personally like Samsungs UI software better. Plus if I ever wanted to use a s pen I have that option.

5) That bigger camera bump on the One Plus just lacks the sleekness of the Fold 6's smaller camera bump.
Plus I like the overall corner to corner sleeker profile of the Fold 6.

6) The support from Samsung cannot be understated. I have returned many phones with zero problems. I just don't trust One Plus.

7) The performance of the Gen 3 chip is just better on the Fold 6.

Now the One Plus has nice advantages such as 4GB more interal Ram, a bit more usable front screen, higher pixel counts on both screens, a larger internal screen, and a bigger battery with faster charging.

But overall the Fold 6 gives me more of what I need and prefer in a foldable.
Still Samsung must step up in the future with a more substantial upgrade to match its competitors.

I strongly like the s pen, and wireless charging. I also like Samsung's multitasking interface, and prefer the underscreen camera vs the hole punch, even with the poor image quality. Those things beat out the other hardware advantages of the Open, for me.
