This is the first of a multi-part series we're putting together as we talk about the culture of "JDM" that the US has developed over the years, and check out some of the awesome Japanese market cars we're starting to get now that they're turned 25. Here in Malaysia, most cars that we drive are Japanese cars and our local car manufacturers, Proton and Perodua used Japanese cars platform like Mitsubishi and Daihatsu back in the old days. What we did, we ordered parts, mod and convert our cars to achieve the JDM looks like the bodyparts, engine swaps, interiors and JDM audio systems. No big wings, no rocket bunnies.

I think the Gran Turismo game series started the craze. It mainlined JDM cars into our brains for hours at a time. It worked so well the CIA is probably jealous.
