Channel Islands/Al Merrick Pod Surfboard Review

The Channel Islands Pod surfboard by Al Merrick.

This little fun-punter has been a worldwide favourite for more than a decade.

Equipped with deep concaves, a foiled nose and a tucked in swallow tail to keep the Pod lively and maintain it's high performance. The slightly fuller "snub nose" increases the volume up-front, allowing for maximum planing, wave catching and the ability to ride out of those air-reverses. The wide and curvy outline makes the Pod a useable surfboard for a wide range of surfing abilities. Experienced surfers looking for air-time should ride the Pod 3 - 6" shorter than they are tall, while intermediate riders looking for slightly fuller, more forgiving outline than a normal shortboard should keep a little more length.

Hi, I am looking to getting one of this but would love some assitsance from you as you know the shape. I am 1, 70 mts high (5'6' i think) and weight 75kg (165LBS). Actually I ride a 5'10 x 20 1/4 x 2 3/4 with a performance shape. I am 42 years old on regular fit conditions and I surf more like weekends (not every day) so I was looking for a board to catch more waves, that's the main focus, paddle easy and catch more. Which size would you recommend based on what I am telling you? I was also wondering if going for extra L would affect the performance of the board or if it would manage it fine. Thanks a lot.
