I am 99% certain that hole in the head is from letting excess waste build up, that's another reason why Python is so solid for the quick vac and the weekly cleaning! It is so simple to prevent the problem with the bits that are messing with the water quality & I don't care how much it costs because using Python compared to the shit that Hyger sells and the D I why ? I'm 100% sold on the combination platter of a old school is still the BEST for almost all the freshwater species and tanks w messier eaters ... that being said, IMO Pythons work best when you have the different sizes of gravel
and the longer the tube the better it will clean and I always like to be really cautious about what is not going to make it in the plumbing so I came up with a few things that you might like . The best is the little KEURIG reusable K cups to use your own coffee. They fit perfectly on the part that is called " the pump" so yeah the plastic mesh filter fits perfectly and I just leave it on all the time since it's honestly saved me since I have dirted tanks capped with Torpedi Beach sand so that is not going to make it in my drain and for a few pounds it is worth every quid 🙄😎and then I will put a mesh bag for Purigen etc. over that just to be sure that it stays out of my drain pipes !!!! That was a great tank and super nice to see the variety of fish and the Severums were really nice and the clowns totally belong in the tank, you can make it work with the right fish and the right size for almost any type sorta like in any stream , river or lake !!! 🎃

A lovely tank. But there is plenty Ultra Violet Sterilisers for tanks out there. I’ve added a Steriliser to my tank earlier this year, highly recommend them. Especially for big expensive set ups.
Pond UV’s are generally Clarifiers. Work differently to sterilisers.
