Can a 4-day workweek benefit both the employee and the employer?

Get your workforce to do the same amount of work or more in a shorter amount of time. Some companies have begun experimenting with four-day workweeks with various results.

“We already can’t get the work done in five days, how on Earth could we get it done in four days? I was definitely apprehensive on it,” says Karen McCauley the CEO of ‘Fresh Squeezed Ideas.’

The company’s first stab at adopting a four-day workweek didn’t work out so well, but with some tweaks ‘freedom Friday’ gave way to ‘flexible Friday,’ and the results were better than expected.

A 4 day work week but with 10 hours instead of 8 is extremely successful, they have done studies in Europe and should implement it in Canada!

A 4 day work week will lead to a lot of people in poverty as they will struggle with bills.

I work a lot. I’m not lazy. I’m definitely not a quiet quitter or anything resembling that.

That said, most Friday afternoons I am useless, just tired and burnt out feeling.

I’m coming around to this idea., .

Sure why not give everyone a 4 day workweek...the budget will balance itself. Plus may as well work our way down to no workdays with UBI and AI phasing everyone out soon enough😏

Go work in the heat of the summer sun like paving or roofing and try to make them work 10 hours a day

About 25 years ago, our company increased the work week to 8.5 hours a day. Then once every 3 weeks the office was closed for a flex day (it worked well for the complete shut down so no one was looking for another employee for something that was needed).
All the staff were so happy to do this…..it never landed on a long weekend.

It was great, very little absences, people booked appointments on OFF days ETC………what ever happened to that concept?

Let's start by getting uncivil servants to work at least one day a week.

So everyone is struggling and someone thinks less work is the solution? Why not just free money? If you can afford to work 4 days, go for it. But most can’t…

This will literally only benefit salary workers.

Scripts can work 24/7. Two extra hours for truck driver will lead to tragedy.
We came to an 8 hour work day because of our body abilities. Time to replace office workers with AI. Start with HR.

It’s called 4 on 4 off. It’s not some new idea.

My job switched to 4 X 10 hour days. Having 3 days off was like a mini vacation every week. Only 4 commutes a week instead of 5 was a bonus. It was great while it lasted. But they went back to 5 X 8 because scheduling was too difficult for the boss.
