I'm sure if I did this my joycons would never work the same again but yours are so cute! Nice video.

Fun fact you can download some software on a computer and change the colors the joycons display on the switch. So like when you connect them it can show pink instead of the original grey

This video is very cute and pretty good!! But I saw a couple things that if you want to do this yourself might cause some problems: first, this is a little silly and maybe doesn’t matter that much but this video started with the right joycon, but the extremerate instructions will always start with the left. There’s a reason! The right is a lot harder than the left because it has more parts. So, esp if you’ve never done it before, it’s much easier to do the left first. But overall my main point here is that it’s NOT the same on both joycons, these were instructions for the right but the left is a bit different. Esp if you’ve never done it before, I do recommend using ExtremeRate’s videos and instructions first (or instead).
Next, after pulling out the battery (around 5:44) she should have pulled that wire antenna thing out too instead of leaving it in the middle plastic piece and yanking it out. It looks like it happened to disconnect ok anyway on hers, but that could have damaged the motherboard. That antenna is only in the right joycon. Best thing to do is to gently pull it up right after pulling the battery out so that the chip and wire aren’t slotted into the plastic housing and THEN unscrew and pull out the middle plastic piece. You don’t have to detach that antenna at all, and I definitely wouldn’t do it the way it’s done in the video.
Another thing, also important because you could damage your joycon: around 7:50, the piece that holds in the ribbon (the clamp) isn’t always the lighter side (sometimes it’s silver, sometimes it’s black) and it also isn’t always on the side the ribbon slides into. On the last ribbon she said to unclamp, she was picking roughly at the wrong side of the ribbon when the clamp was the black piece on the other side, please don’t do that as you could again damage the mother board!
Also I kind of wish she had shown a bit more of removing the motherboard because that can be difficult on the right side as there are pieces under the mother board that she didn’t show that you need to transfer, even this little black circle that looks like it doesn’t do anything — but it goes around your joystick, and helps keep dirt out to prevent drift, so you need it! But you have to unstick it and pull it out to move it to the new shell.
Last thing, and this is pretty minor, but technically around 10:10 she clipped off more than she should have on the SR or SL button. The big tab was correct to take off, but the SR and SL also only fit in one orientation (to make sure you put them in facing the correct way) and she also clipped off the tiny tabs that help do that so I think the button was in upside down (or the L and R were swapped). No big but if you don’t know that you might make the same mistake, and some of the buttons are not solid colors but rather painted/coated so clipping where you shouldn’t can lead to chipped paint etc.
Overall though cute video!! These are difficult to do if you haven’t done many. If you want to do this yourself but are confused please feel free to reply or message me! I just did a few sets myself and even added extremerate’s light up buttons to my sets and love how they came out :)

This video game me the confidence to replace my joycon shells! Replace the left one went smooth, however, the right one had a damaged screw, and while trying to force the joycon open, I ended up tearing the flex closer to the SL button.

Wow I didn’t realise how intricate taking them apart and putting them together was! I just bought new shells so I’m going to try this too! Helpful video 😊

Came for the video, stayed for the cute nails! XD

There are some corrections to be made though!

1) 7:47 THATS A BIG NO NO! you are damaging the connector itself, the white part. If that's damaged, you have to solder in another connector (good luck finding one and soldering it correctly). You have to just flip the black tab on top!
2) btw its not called a flex, its a ribbon cable.
3) Never use metal tweezers on the ribbon cable, use plastic ones since you can easily damage them - specially since you didn't remove the battery. Components can end up getting shorted and thats it, new joy-cons!

10:46 that is the rumble motor, and you are forgiven.
11:54 spring goes swooosh!
12:47 the springs are clearly not aligned properly! You have to re-do it!
14:09 you have tightened the bottom-right screw a lot, as a result it has damaged the plastic! If you take it apart by any change again, you might end up damaging the screw hole.

theres a whole extra piece of the joycon that the ribbon cable is connected to (7:50) that you just don't show removing

Hey awesome video! I’ve done this quite a few times now and I don’t know if you knew this or not but there is a little dust cover that goes on the joystick and in the video you discarded it, hope this is helpful!
