Built this one a couple of years back really enjoyed the build, certainly looks like a 109 when it's finished.

The circular things in the wings are the magazines for the Underwing mounted gun pods. Why they felt the need to include those is a mystery. Perhaps they originally wanted removable wing panels in the top surface? The E4 version, had some shape errors with the nose being too wide (because of the engine?) and therefore the canopy being slightly tapered to the rear, all fixable & that one can be made into a decent looking kit. This one looks like it might be good & not have those problems, I see the canopy edges look parallel. The detail in the wheel wells is added from the PE set on the E4 kit. You will never see them, and they were quite fiddly.

The cockpit on the E was a disaster though, the floor was basically the wrong way round, and the entire cockpit was in the wrong place - too far rearward, needing a lot of chopping, filling, carving and fudging of kit parts. That aside, just stick a pilot in, and bobs your uncle.

This is not a K-4. At best you can build a G-6/AS version. The cockpit it totally wrong (Step 6 part M4 - the fuel line. Fine for the G series but not on the K). Step 10 - the cowlings are symmetrical but should be asymmetrical due to the larger turbocharger on the port side. Step 12 part J1 - nope. Step 19 gun pods - nope. If you aren't concerned with accuracy and just want a 1/32 "late war 109" then have fun. But if you want an accurate K-4 stick with the Hasegawa. Cheers.

What made me curious was the box art that shows the Bf109 very distorted. I thought this might be a high-altitude version or something, sort of like the FW190 D

At 2:55- 2 trim wheels. One is for the flaps, the other for the horizontal stab. Generally, they were used together, so they are collocated...

When you think about the fact that these kits can cost north of $100US, it's a crying shame that they couldn't put a masking set in there. With the cost of modern kits masks and a photo etch fret should be standard.
