As long as the record has not been officially set, it is not a record. You can tell a lot of stories. The Guinness Book of Records would be an absurd book if everyone simply claimed to have set a record. That is simply the way it is. Regardless of the fact that this car is really beautiful.

It is not unprecedented for the USA to have cars among the top performers at the Nurburgring. The Viper ACR was like #5 at one point. Corvettes have always been way up there since the C4. And, I believe, the Cadillac CTS-V even got the record for fastest 4-door sedan.

I don’t know why the GTD is so heavy compared to its competitors.

All you have to do is look into the design an development or the suspension alone proves that it's worth it the suspension setup is better than any exotic car out there

Anybody paying attention to Larry Holt (of Multimatic) knew the GTD could lay down an impressive time. Only knuckleheads with an axe to grind though the car was only capable of barely getting into the sixes.

GTD best official time is not under 6:50. If they would lose a lot of weight and reduce the power then concentrate on handling, then may the GTD could do better. I watched video's of the GTD and other cars, the GTD looks like it's at the limit for handling. Look at other cars especially many different Porsches and Mercede's track cars, they are much more stable and carve through turns at higher speeds.
