Don't know why horror filmmakers miss on the opportunity to make uncanny characters like this, easily the scariest type of horror design in my opinion

The “person” looking at you from the door was the scariest thing in this video. Absolutely some anglerfish type monster trying to lure you in.

watching people's reactions on the uncanny valley help me understand more of the psychology on it. im interested in horror and such, so this was actually pretty informative. it's interesting to see what disturbs people.

As an artist I can pretty easily say that the cause for the things to look creepy is generally when it has a big smile but wide open eyes, because normally people when they smile close a little bit they're eyes, so when they let they're eyes wide open it seems fake, almost as if the person wasn't human.

Regarding the police sketches, the uncanny-ness is actually totally on purpose. They exaggerate certain features in order to have the skecth stick into peoples minds. The creepy sketch at 4:28 got recognized by a family member from her very distinct smile.

I don’t know why the guy smiling from the closet literally chilled me to my core.

3:31 Bruh this part scared the living hell out of me but it made me comfortable to hear him talking in the background of it and not watching it by itself.

i've always liked the theory that the uncanny valley effect stems from the fact that homo sapiens wasn't always the only hominid that populated large parts of the earth. we lived alongside other creatures that were human-like, but not. quite. human. and some of those creatures were bigger than us and stronger than us and carnivores in a way were were not. and mistaking one for another could be the last thing you ever did.

Please do more uncanny valley videos! Uncanny valley is probably the one thing that scares and disturbs me the most in the horror genre. I feel like it doesn't get as much attention or recognition in horror media as opposed to like, gore and jumpscare-oriented content.

It's one of those things that gives you the same vibes as liminal spaces. It's normal, but completely abnormal. Not being able to pinpoint what exactly feels so wrong about the image. Super fascinating and creepy subject.

the only time i've felt scared over a person that didn't seem real was when i was walking in a park with two friends and this guy walks past that seemed so normal but me and one of them got such a bad feeling in our gut because he was too perfect looking, he even said hi and smiled. literally just a guy on the street nothing crazy

That last TikTok series of videos are really quite genius for psychological horror. It’s weaponizing not just the uncanny valley but other oddities of human behavior—the vestiges of our more animal instincts which never seem to go away. Why do we have them, if not for recognizing something that might be a bit “off”? Most people have, at some point, regardless of age, stared at that dark corner and wondered if the form we see is caused by pareidolia or something else. Many people will hallucinate at least once in their lifetime, namely through sleep paralysis, but they may never know it. Sometimes our senses tell us that everything is fine but we feel creeped out for no apparent reason. What if there was a reason? These are the things that could really up the ante in horror movies—not overly terrifying but something is definitely “off.” Imagine you are watching what you think is a slice-of-life-type film but there are either single frames of something creepy or something just out of full view by the camera that is visible but so hard to see that you won’t notice it unless you stare at it.

To me that dog looks like instead of barking it just says "bark" in a deep voice.

Honestly, it's so weird watching your stuff and remembering that you've still got a relatively small community. Every time I tune in for your vids I wonder why you don't have more subs

tbh a A24 uncanny valley horror movie where a family suddenly woke up to everyone around them looking so…unnatural yet human might be an interesting concept

There's this online analog horror series "Vita Carnis" and something called a mimic in that universe. That thing gave me the heaviest uncanny flight response I've ever had from a video.

Uncanny valley is a concept that has a lot of potential in horror works, i'm surprised that not many horror content creators use it. I think the one that used it the best is Mandela Catalogue.

The one at 3:05 scares me bc I’ve had paranormal experiences like that and it’s a really good imitation of them.
