On today’s episode of Podcast for a Savvy Business Owner, Irene Sinayskaya and Jane Lvovskiy discuss the increase in Department of Labor (DOL) audits affecting employers in the last few months. Employers should keep in mind that the DOL can audit employers at any time, although the most common reason for an audit is a complaint from an employee. DOL audits can take place unannounced or with notice, start by with a letter or by an in-person visit. Either way, you need to be prepared. Irene and Jane talk about what triggers these audits, what is being audited in recent months, and discuss various options depending on the type of audit and whether it just started, documents have been submitted, or the audit already resulted in a judgment. Knowing what to expect before an audit occurs can help your organization be prepared, and ultimately, make the audit go more smoothly. As always, feel free to reach out to Jane or Irene with any questions you may have!
