The film begins in 1869 in the town of Brantford, New Hampshire. Two boys are seen breathlessly running with a box, which they proceed to bury in the woods.

I love the foreshadowing of Jumanji's destructive power with the kid brushing off a wolf pack: "Don't worry, it's just a pack of wolves.." What did Jumanji do to these two I wonder.

This opening always gave me chills. Really sets the tone for the rest of the movie. The line "May God have mercy on his soul." with the classic lightning strike right after never fails to give me goosebumps. James Horner's (RIP) score really adds a layer to it all.

The game reminds me of the One Ring. It has a will of its own, it wants to be found and it wants its destructive power unleashed.

Jumanji really does seem to get around.

1869 - Its buried by Caleb & Benjamin.

1969 - Its discovered by Alan & sarah. Alan gets sucked into it.

1995 - Its found yet again by Judy & Peter who release Alan.

1969 (26 years earlier) - Alan & sarah dispose of it.

1996 - Alex's father finds it, takes it home then it transforms into a video game.

2017 - Spencer, Fridge, Martha & Bethany play it then get sucked into it, bring alex home then destroy it.

2019 - Spencer fixes the game & gets sucked into it again. The others follow him (Including alex. This time spencer's grandfather, eddie & his former oartner, milo join them).

*Another jumanji film is reportedly being made after at least 5 or 6 years. The plot is unknown.

Jumanji is brilliant & seems to last forever but it's a game u wouldn't want to play. Its been less than *156* years since Caleb & Benjamin tried to bury

You know, this game could have been brought to America through the slave trade, since its African origin. Then it hops from one group of unfortunates to another throughout the 1800s until these kids finally bury it in New Hampshire.

Jumanji could be a curse from an African witch after being captured and put in the slave trade. Revenge I guess.

I would like to know more about the Origin of Jumanji, to know who was its creator? and also know if Van Pelt is a Hunter who was in a spedition in the Congo and who somehow got trapped inside Jumanji?

the scariest thing about the jumanji movies is that no one really knows where the game came from or how it was made, or why it does what it does to players.

I imagine Benjamin was sucked into the Jumanji game (Alan) whilst Caleb was in Sarah's position (watching the game take away his brother, leading two lifetimes in the real world). The thing is here that Benjamin was *probably* not as strong-willed, courageous as Alan was in beating it/getting freed. His brother had to do all of it. Might not have spent as much years trapped in the game either. My *wild* guess anyway.
